Game Programming

The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) is the world's largest game creation event taking place around the globe, typically at physical locations. A "game jam" is essentially a hackathon focused on game development. In 2022 Humber hosted the Game Jam at Humber North Campus, there were 22 teams participating in the event. You can check out our interview with some of the teams from Humber College participating this year by Harrison Smith.

We have reviewed the games submission and here are some games that we would like to encourage you to try out!

Most addictive game

1) Warloch: This game is addictive when you start playing it. It is repayable. It can run on both PC and Touchscreen. I was spending over 20 min playing this game. It is smart, creative, and has so many deep layers. Another point is that it is really functional, out of any web game published, this one is the only one that can load and play smoothly.

Best Single achievement

2) Through The Darkness: This game is just so good, best in everything, and developed by a single person. The only draw back is that it isn't repayable but it will make the players spend some time to break it.

Creative 3D game

3) Between Day and Night: This game has very nice 3D graphics. The game also has complex consequences play style such as decision-making during day time will affect the performance during night time.

Unique

4) Project Robot: This game is created by the winner of another award. It has a creative complex play style and simple 2D graphic. The game run in 2 windows like in Nintendo DS.

Point and Shoot

5) Man Vs. Cube: This is a Point and shoot game with really nice graphic and challenging play style.

Other honor mention
  • Blood power: It is a simple first-person point-and-shoot game with 2000 3D graphics style.
  • Downpour: It is a simple retro 2D game style with nice graphics and simple play style helping the flame to avoid raindrops.
  • Flipside: It has creative smart play style to jump into a different world and bypass the problem in the real world. The graphic is super simple 2D.
  • Gemini: Last Stand: It is a Point and shoot 3D game with nice graphics. The color makes it does not look like a final product.
  • LastLight's 2022GGJ Project: This is a one person project. It has nice 3D graphics, and a simple play style just run and collect points.
  • Tetris Platformer: It has nice graphic. Them game is challenging by forcing the player to control both a platformer and Tetris at the same time.
